The Pioneer Place
Community Retreat & Outreach Ministry
In the busyness of life, it is essential to pull away, to rest and relax. The Pioneer Place farm provides a tranquil space to walk, read, rest, pray, and retreat from the demands of everyday life. Just as our lives have different seasons and things to discover, so does the pastured and wooded property. Enjoy the rich multi-colored foliage of fall, the deep blue skies and refreshing air of winter, the wildflowers and crisp white clouds of spring and the long, sun filled days of summer. Immersed in the serenity of nature, surrounded by beautifully manicured fields and woodlands.
Come, rest awhile. Reestablish your closeness to Him and find your peace within.
Help Us Help Our Community
As faithful stewards of God’s grace, we are called to use our gifts to serve others. Your support is essential in our effort to fulfill our mission to serve the community through good works and helping others.
Let us host your next event
With multiple indoor and outdoor venues, we're the perfect place for reunions, parties, meetings, weddings, festivals and more. The proceeds from our event and rental services go toward the daily upkeep and maintenance of the farm.
Programs
In cooperation with the State of Ohio and Pike County, and through partnerships with our community and local businesses, we offer several community oriented programs.
The Transitions Work Program
- 25 hour work week
- Hands on training
- OSHA Certification Opportunities
- Case management and supportive services
The Workforce & Business Program, of Community Action Committee of Pike County, is a collaborative program assisting unemployed adults in building toward self-sufficiency, youth looking to establish a career path, and local businesses pushing for success. Within this initiative is the Transitions Program which operates under the U. S. Department of Labor and the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services in partnership with the Workforce Opportunity & Innovation Act. The Transitions Program has teamed up with multiple businesses and agencies in the community to provide work experience for enrolled clients.
At The Pioneer Place farm, clients are able to gain work experience and skill sets which build their professional portfolio before re-entering the steady workforce especially post-substance abuse. The farm offers clients a work and training schedule of up to twenty-five (25) hours per week so mental health and substance abuse sobriety can be maintained. The Transitions Team and the staff at The Pioneer Place keep a focus on each client as an individual by offering case management and supportive services as needed to encourage the overall well-being for the client and their families. Clients gain OSHA certifications through Insite, as well as hands-on training in effective communication, problem-solving and leadership.
Please contact Workforce & Business Development at 740-289-2371 for more information on enrollment and worksite opportunities.
Spiritual Growth Programs
- Discipleship Retreats
- Worship Services
The Pioneer Place offers a variety of programs designed to assist you in applying God’s teachings in everyday life.
Discipleship Retreats
The Pioneer Place is dedicated to the biblical principle of Discipleship. We believe Discipleship produces Fruit! Discipleship is the process of teaching someone to become like Christ in everything. As the Holy Spirit works to transform the individual and change is made from the inside-out, the characteristics of Jesus become evident in the Believer’s life: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control (Self Discipline).
We believe the Fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians chapter 5 are the basis of a true Convert. Our goal is to grow into Christ in ALL things! Ephesians 4:15- “Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth (in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly). Enfolded in Love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, even Christ (The Messiah, the Anointed One)”.
If you desire to live a life growing deeper in Kingdom roots, learning Kingdom principles, and serving and worshipping at His feet- Then, we invite you to Journey with us as we embark (begin a course of action, especially one that is important or demanding) into living out our Kingdom Inheritance. In this we will have an impact on our sphere of authority and demonstrate the Power of the Gospel through Signs, Miracles and Wonders!
Worship Services at Prodigal House Ministries
Each week we meet in the ministry farmhouse to receive direction from the Lord. Through prayer and worship we support and encourage each other as we walk through similar situations together. Join us for our weekly services and be a part of receiving His life transforming grace and mercy.

Let's work together
Two are better than one because they have a good
return for their hard work. If either should fall,
one can pick up the other.
- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
By working in collaboration with schools, churches, religious organizatons, non-profits and other faith-based groups we can improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of our efforts, resulting in greater community-wide results.
If you're looking to expand your in-house programs, create a new program, or need additional support or adequate facilities for an existing program, let's discuss how we can work together to acheive our common goals.
